CLAYTON’S PRELIMINARY LIST OF COMPANIES TO POSSIBLY INVEST IN

At the beginning stages of Clayton’s (my mentee’s) investing career, he was brainstorming possible companies that he knew of and that he might consider investing in. They are listed below. He also set up a virtual trading account (at WallStreetSurvivor.com) and began buying some of these companies with play money to practice investing.

You can follow along by brainstorming your own list of companies that you know of. Set up a free virtual account with any website that you like and start practicing investing in these companies.

You can continue reading below or download the notes in Microsoft Word format here.

WallStreetSurvivor.

(Has some limitations that you will see below. Sometimes they limit the amount you can invest in one company “maximum position size” as you’ll see below. This is usually not the case with a regular trading account. )

Signed up

Some ad for their service…”limited time offer” trick

There are leagues, and contests/competitions…

You can follow other users… Not sure if you can see their portfolio… But one guy has increased his by 8000%!

They give a Practice Portfolio…100k (in play money)

…Couldn’t buy Volkswagen…Because Frankfurt Exchange?

Trying to buy FB with around 50k

But there are some limits on how many shares I can buy… first it was 202. Bought 200. Then 83…tried 80… but mentioned “maximum position size” of 25k

So I bought just 10 more to get close to that limit.

And 20k of GM… Just to have a car company…after VW didn’t work and Ford looked iffy…

Wanting more stocks than in real life since it’s a play place and I need to learn…

Tried Bayer… Would totally buy it now…but not possible , maybe because Frankfurt based…

So Shorted on Amazon… it’s at it’s highest price ever, and even tho it’s a great company I think, it may fall. I would never do this in real life because it’s too risky I think.

I want to have some money left to do lots of small trades and get experience… so I’m going to hold off for a bit.
